   Hi there! I am in LOVE with this comic and am reading it through a second time and I was wondering if I could pick your brain with a few questions! C:

   Are the extra flying creatures pictured here backup racers, if there are 10 set racers? And are the people who aren’t partners also chosen to live in the inter-dimensional town, or are they retired racers and their families?

     Hi Lars, thank you for all the lovely comments! I’m going to be straight up honest with you about this page and Take off

     This page- with all the flying animals- was done before it was decided there would only be ten racers. So know beforehand that everything I say after this is basically canon bsing.

     Out of the ten actual racers/animals- we can see Mycroft, Ezra, Murphy and MARS. The rest (a few birds, a giant snake dragon and a sky whale) are, like the humans, kind of just inhabitants of Inbetween. Even the snake dragon and his friend are just friends who like to get around- not racers.

     The sky whale, however, has in fact appeared in the first race. In my head, which I guess counts just as much as canon as anything, the whale is just so large and free spirited that he essentially just does his own thing. Flies where he pleases- including a race if he so chooses. The Heads aren’t exactly happy with him party crashing their sport, but he’s a crowd pleaser that the spectators enjoy.

     Now- the PEOPLE- the people. They are just citizens. They live in this City and lead their own lives. They’re not racers, they’re just hum drum humans. They’re in Inbetween as a people for the The Heads to watch over. The Heads take care and rule over them.
